engagement party | las cruces portrait photographer

This weekend I attended a beautiful engagement party for my little sister, Ivy and her fiancé, Saeed. It is hard to believe that my youngest sister is getting married. They are a lovely couple and this was a wonderful time for the families to come together and celebrate.

This party was full of life! It was a joyful celebration filled with dancing, singing, and clapping.

We were able to participate in a Persian tradition – “Raghse Chaghoo” or “Knife Dance,” which is performed prior to the cake cutting. The dance begins with a person dancing with the knife and asking the couple for money. Once the dancer gets the money, the knife is passed on to the next dancer. During the dance, the couple continue to offer money to get the cake knife. After many dancers, the knife is passed to the couple so they may cut the cake. It was fun to watch and be a part of.

Once they got the knife, the cake cutting could begin.

It was a beautiful night filled with family, friends, laughter, dancing and memories. I’m looking forward to the wedding!

Carol - I think that the black and white really works for these photos. Almost a journalistic approach to the events — what an evening.
